Hasta Luego Peru

My time spent in Peru was very worthwhile as it taught me multiple things about life. As an American citizen I must understand and acknowledge my privileges. It breaks my heart as I see my younger cousins eager to find a way into America for a better life. I’m left speechless as my cousins explain their lives in Peru with tears in their eyes. I want to conquer the world and bring some sort of happiness to these people but I’m left paralyzed. Even though I live in a society that doesn’t accept my identity, I need to realize that I, that I, that I have it much better than others.

I left Peru with tears as I said my goodbyes to my family members. I’m blessed with a beautiful family that shared so many great moments with my mother and me. I thank them for all their care and kind, especially the special request lunches. I thank my parents for giving such a great graduation present. My only concern is when will I return to Peru? I want to visit my family more often and make sure that that remain part of my life.
